Theopolis is committed to making this website accessible to as many people as possible, including those who use assistive technologies such as screen readers, keyboard navigation, or screen magnification.
What we do
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA. In building this site we have:
- Used clear, semantic HTML so structure is conveyed to assistive technology.
- Provided descriptive alternative text for meaningful images, and credited every artwork.
- Ensured the site can be navigated by keyboard, with a visible focus indicator and a “skip to content” link.
- Chosen colour combinations that meet AA contrast for body text.
- Respected the “reduce motion” setting for animations.
- Made the layout responsive, so it adapts to phones, tablets, and desktops.
Known limitations
Some artwork images are reproductions of paintings and sculpture; their alternative text describes the title and artist rather than the full visual content. We continue to improve these descriptions.
